The Playground / metodologias

"Kant's idea that play is the antithesis of reason, that reason must triumph over imagination and philosophy and science over art, is a continual ghostly presence in Freud. The Kantian hierarchy fit well with Freud's scientific temperament. Science is ideally a discipline of remove, in fact, the scientists are supposed to vanish in the third person objectivity of the observation or experiment. The I/You dialectic may be an object of study, but it's not part of the epistemological drama. When the cure in question is one enacted through a form of dialogue: two people alone together in a room, the remove, what came to be called neutrality, is an insistence that dispassionate reason guide the analyst no matter how messy and wild, no matter what the doings on the tummelplatz become."
