The search for transcendence and meaning

Faking guilt / a luta pelos ideais
As fantasias têm de ser irrealistas, porque no momento, no segundo em que são concretizadas deixamos de as desejar.
Para continuar a existir o desejo deve ter o seu objecto eternamente ausente.
Não é "aquilo" que vocês querem, mas "aquilo" como objecto de fantasia. Assim, o desejo sustenta fantasias malucas. É isto que Pascal quer dizer quando diz que só somos verdadeiramente felizes quando sonhamos com a felicidade futura. Ou aquilo que nos leva a dizer que "a caça é mais doce que a presa", ou "cuidado com aquilo que pedes". Não por podermos obtê-lo, mas porque estamos condenados a desdenhá-lo, mal o tenhamos. Assim, a lição de Lacan é que viver segundo os nossos desejos nunca nos fará felizes. O significado de ser plenamente humano é tentar viver com base em ideias e não avaliar a nossa vida por aquilo que alcançámos em termos de desejos. Mas sim, por aqueles pequenos momentos de integridade, compaixão, racionalidade e até mesmo abnegação porque, no final, a única forma de medirmos o significado das nossas vidas é avaliando as vidas do outros.
