dolce far niente

"Ela estava a perder a consciência das coisas exteriores. E quando perdeu a consciência das coisas exteriores [...] a sua mente continuou a lançar coisas das profundezas, cenas, nomes, citações, memórias e ideias, como uma fonte a jorrar [...]"
Virginia Woolf, in Rumo ao Farol

"Sonhar acordado é essa "fonte a jorrar", à medida que o cérebro mistura conceitos habitualmente arquivados em áreas distintas. O resultado é a capacidade de reparar em novas ligações, de ver as sobreposições que normalmente negligenciamos."
Jonah Lehrer, in Imagine

Man deludes himself when he thinks he is leading his own life

"... let yourself fall. Die gladly, live gladly."

"... I had solitude and my work."

"... Unity is yours whenever, regardless of time, space, knowledge or ignorance, you abandon conventions and decide to be alone with love and devotion to all divinities, to all humanity, to all kind of world."

"... You will never encounter the teacher who will spare you the effort of seeking."

"... to be faithful to ourselves and good to others."

"Actually, when your hands are occupied in a repetitive task, your mind works better than when you are sitting and forcing yourself to think of something."

The Case for Doing Nothing

Expanding Levels of The Consciousness:

• Non-conscious -
----- • Information that is entirely outside of awareness.

• Experience -
----- • The contents of consciousness.  Is the on going continuously changing state of mind that an individual apprehends through out his/her waking day. Experience is defined by change, and change requires a flow of time.

• Meta-awareness -
----- • Ones explicit understanding of their conscious experience. Mental departures from the here in now in which individuals attention is directed away from the task at hand (while driving, reading, dancing...)
------------ • The basis of introspection and self-reports

----- • Often neglects or misrepresent experience.

AND... indeed, mindfulness seems to be the opposite of mind wandering (aos 48min)

AND... There is a correlation between mind wandering and creative performance (aos 1:00:00 min)

"Certainly cognitve psychology has suffered from this problem of third person perspective. [...] And there are, likely, situations where psychology continues to make the error of excessively relying on self reports that are not necessarily valid."

– Mind wandering and multi-tasking

Eternal return to daydreaming

I keep having this dream when I dream of the log walls and dark pantry.
I sense that it's only a dream.
Then joy is clouded for I know I'll wake up.
Sometimes something happens, and I stop dreaming of the house of my chilhood.
Then I grieve and wait for the dream that will make me a child again and I'll be happy again knowing that all still lies ahead and nothing is impossible. The Mirror, A. Tarkovsky

Tricotando / (autistic) pleasure/ Comfortable numbness

A música vai massajando a alma.
Os movimentos minimais repetitivos, dos dedos, permitem que o pensamento divague.
O corpo, esse... não existe.
