da línguas maldosas
"Nestes pioneiros do individualismo, é surpreendente encontrar tanto altruísmo.

Life: as path or as a current / Reflexões em tempos de confinamento
Qual a 'regra' subjacente à nossa escolha?

How do you treat women you have no stake in protecting?
Look at how feathered his cocks are
See how seamless his frocks are
Look at his paper-beating over that rockstar
Look at how long she walks and how far
Was she lost? Or
Maybe she was not for travelling in the stock car, anymore
Maybe she spent her formative years
Dealing with his contentious fears
And endless jeers and her endless tears
Or maybe she's got tired of watching him
Sniff white off a starlet's breast
Treating his wife like less than a guest
Getting his girl to clean up his mess
Never showing weakness unless it's award's season
It's the season of the ward
And she's trying to cut the cord
She's tired of planting her knees on the cold, hard floor of facts
Trying to act like the other girl acts
And you strike me, I've been exact
But you know that you never really go to the mat
You tie everything all pretty in the second act
When you know that it didn't go exactly like that
You arrive and drive by, like a sauced up bat
Like you know you should know but you don't know where it's at
Like you know you should know but you don't know where it's at
Like you know you should know but you don't know where it's at
You arrive and drive by, like a sauced up bat
Like you know you should know but you don't know where it's at
You arrive and drive by, like a sauced up bat
Like you know you should know but you don't know where it's at
Like you know, you should know, but you don't know what you did
Like you know, you should know what happened when I came to bed
Like you know, you should know, but you don't know
Like you know, you should know, but you don't know
Like you know, you should know, but you don't know what you did
Well, good morning, good morning
You raped me in the same bed your daughter was born in
Good morning, good morning
Good morning, good morning
(Like you know, you should know, but you don't know
Like you know, you should know, but you don't know
Like you know, you should know, but you don't know)
You were so high
You were so high
You were so high

To look is to change
“The act of looking was somehow a force in itself which changed my whole being.”
[…]
“I had measured my life in terms of circumstances. I had thought I was happy when I was having what was generally considered ‘a good time’. But when I began to try and balance up each day’s happiness I had found that there were certain moments which had a special quality of their own, a quality which seemed to be almost independent of what was going on around me, since they occurred sometimes on the most trivial occasions. They stood out because of a feeling of happiness which was far beyond what I had ordinarily meant by ‘enjoying myself’, and because of this they tended to oust all other concerns in my daily record.”

Attention seeking and 'Flow' and restlessness and 'the textures of experience' / feeling the 'thingness' of things
"I want to achieve the play attitude. By this I mean concentration in an activity which has no apparent use just for the delight of doing it. [...] I was always full of purposes, always driving myself to do more things – to read more books, to learn more languages, to see more people, not to miss anything."
Marion Milner, A Life of One's Own [pg 63]
"I wanted to get the most out of life, but the more I tried to grasp, the more I felt that I was ever outside, missing things. At that time I could not understand at all that my real purpose might be to learn to have no purposes."
Marion Milner, A Life of One's Own [pg 65]
"So I began to wonder whether there were perhaps not many gestures which I must learn in their appropriate places, but only one which really mattered. And perhaps this one offered a third possibility in the control of attention, a possibility which the books had not made clear to me at all. I must neither push my thought nor let it drift. I must simply make an internal gesture of standing back and watching, for it was a state in which my will played policeman to the crowd of my thoughts, its business being to stand there and watch that the road might be kept free for whatever was coming. Why had no one told me that the function of will might be to stand back, to wait, not to push? The lonely policeman who relied on his physical strength to keep back the crowd would soon be swept away; as my will had constantly been by the surging thoughts."
Marion Milner, A Life of One's Own [pg 75]

do not forget the right brain
"Through the fragmenting lens of social media we are living, increasingly, in the left-brain’s world. By stripping information of context and then actively manipulating it, social media has the power to prey upon left-brain tendencies and preferences by transforming bits of information into world-historic conspiracies."

Chance and achievement
Each and every one's intrinsic value is beyond (independent from) what each and every one eventually manages to achieve. Achievement necessarily depends on chance and opportunity.
