Não resisto a colocar mais esta
Bem me parecia.
Diz António Damásio:
[...] The desire of the genes to remain and to be passed on. What would the genes do to create an organism that would be the most effective to pass on themselves? And the answer is that EMOTIONS become very very high with all of these things like reward and punishment mechanisms and drives and motivations because emotions are that sort of automatic intelligence that would guide an organism to do the most conveniente thing for that organism to survive during the time that its genoma (?) would allow it to survive.
So very early on, emotion must have been one of the very first things to develop. So we are really dealing with something that is now part and parcel (?) of our lives but has been here for a long long time.
[...] And then we have to deal with this very old system [...] and then we have to layer on top of it this new thing that we have evolved: cultures and civilizations that will allow us to be more pointed (?) and create the best possible behaviour.
[...] I think that what evolution gave us, very rapidly, was different kinds of processes, that were all of the "emotion" flavour and they made life more possible for a longer period...

Lá está o remembering self a actuar, na manipulação das emoções.

Palpita-me...

Mother
A Life's Journey
C S Lewis, autor do livro, The Lion The With and The Wardrobe, que marcou a minha infância.
Mother was our rock, our fortress, almost a sole architect of our humdrum happiness. So when she died with cancer it was the end of my world. The long corridors became long empty corridors. The empty sunlit rooms became rooms blackened by the heavy drapes that were drawn across the windows. The upstairs indoor silences gave way to the cheerless sounds of weeping and lifeless dialogue. And the attics to be explored in solitude became attics to cry in solitude.
Our rock had sunk into the sea like Atlantis.
Our fortress had crumbled and the laughter had been silenced.
And I was ten years old.

Second choice / the beasts, and the beauty
For love I would risk almost everything...
But, anyway, I've never had the chance because I've always been rejected in the meantime.

There's a club, if you'd like to go
You could meet someone who really loves you
So you go, and you stand on your own
And you leave on your own
And you go home
And you cry
And you want to die

Burning out at full speed

Working seriously for a major physical thing.
Sometimes the system goes on the blink
And the whole thing turns out wrong
You might not make it back and you know
That you could be well oh that strong

Habits
Caminhante, são teus rastos
o caminho, e nada mais;
caminhante, não há caminho,
faz-se caminho ao andar.
Ao andar faz-se o caminho,
e ao olhar-se para trás
vê-se a senda que jamais
se há-de voltar a pisar.
Caminhante, não há caminho,
somente sulcos no mar.
António Machado
Scientists have tended to think that to have a mind like ours, one must be able to think and calculate and deliberate as we do. In fact, to have a mind like ours, what is needed are habits like ours. Habits and skills are environmental in the sense that they are triggered by environmental conditions and they vanish in the absence of the appropriate environmental setting. We can reject the idea that we are autonomous islands of decision making, acting on the basis of careful scanning and sound judgmente. Our nature is more intimately entangled with our environment than that.
